I was strolling along the beach in Estepona looking for a chiringuito for an early-evening aperitif, when I came across a beach bar called Muscle Beach, which to my horror specialized in fruit juices and health drinks (as well as, I must admit, some jolly tasty Italian food). But the idea of Muscle Beach, run by one Marco and his wife, Delice, is to provide fitness fanatics with an open-air gym, horror of horrors! After an abortive attempt at lifting one of the weights, I borrowed their bar for a few moments and made myself a fortifying cocktail, which I have dedicated to Delice.

Method

For one person, take the chopped-up flesh of a large ripe mango, a couple of ice cubes, the juice of one fresh lime, a dash of coconut milk, a large dash of white rum and a dash of cane sugar syrup. Whack the lot into a blender. You can, of course, decorate it with exotic fruit if you want. After a couple of these you will see life, even on Muscle Beach, in a different way!
