A great way to use fresh garden peas, which are always a little hard. You can, of course, use frozen peas. It is a very simple dish, quick to cook and great to eat.


  • vegetable oil or ghee
  • 2 red onions, very finely chopped
  • 3 or 4 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped


  1. Grind together the masala ingredients with enough oil to make a smooth paste.
  2. Heat some oil or ghee and sauté the onions until they are completely soft. Stir in the tomatoes and continue cooking until you have a rich tomato and onion sauce.
  3. Stir in the masala and cook for a further 2 or 3 minutes. Add the peas, season with salt and cook until the peas
