While filming in Italy I spent a night on an eighteen-foot fishing boat, creeping around the Ligurian coast, peering through a sort of bucket with a glass bottom, looking for squid. As we located them, the fishermen speared them with a trident and in the morning they were taken to the fish market and no doubt dipped in batter and deep-fried. Nice as it is that way, here is a spicy alternative.
