This is one of my all time favourite meals. If you don't have time to make a pease pudding, you can boil the bacon with cabbage instead. Just before the bacon is cooked, you chuck in a load of coarsely chopped spring cabbage and then serve it alongside the bacon with lots of salt and freshly milled black pepper, melted butter and masses of lovely mustard. And, of course, my mum's parsley sauce. As a boy I often stole into the larder late at night to munch
