All the English bar and restaurant owners in Benidorm look like retired football managers with good if slightly flamboyant haircuts and plenty of gold jewellery. But they are a cheerful, friendly lot, and though it may sound a bit naff, it is great sometimes to have a bacon sandwich made with Mother’s Pride bread imported from England, or baked beans on toast.
