  • About

There are many variations but the basic recipe is made with red wine, brandy, cinnamon, bits of fruit and some fizz (for example, fizzy orange, lemon or soda). If you want to make it stronger add more hard alcohol. Make sure it is served icy cold — allow plenty of time for it to chill in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 apple, diced

Method

Put the lemon and orange slices with the diced apple and pear into as large a jug as you can find. Then add a generous amount of the banana liqueur, Cointreau and brandy. Pour in the bottle of wine and leave to chill thoroughly. When the drink is really cold, pour in the fizzy orange and lemon and add the sugar and cinnamon stick. Throw in a few ice cubes, pour into some glasses and drink it.</
