As we read in Athenaeus, in ancient times boiled cabbage was thought to be a cure for a hangover. My father, who is now eighty-five years old, tells me that during his childhood in Larissa, in the middle of the largest Greek wheat fields, whenever he had digestive problems he was given hot cabbage juice to drink.
