  • About

These golden discs are very popular throughout Chile, especially in winter, when they are made on rainy afternoons. Made with wheat flour, mashed pumpkin and butter, and fried in oil, sopaipillas are often enjoyed with a cup of coffee as a midmorning snack. They can also be eaten with beer as an aperitif, or served to children as a dessert, sprinkled with chancaca (soft dark brown sugar).
