  • About

Wheat berries are an Andean cereal that contain a high level of carbohydrates, fibre and antioxidants. This recipe combines them with two other ingredients that are the basis of many Chilean recipes: potatoes and dried beef jerky.

Ingredients

  • 400 g/14 oz/2 cups wheat berries, soaked in cold water overnight
  • 475

Method

  1. To make the jerky mixture, heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat, then add the onion and cook for 7 minutes or until soft. Add the jerky and cook for 3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Drain the wheat berries. Put the milk and the wheat berries in a large pan, cover, place on a low heat and cook for 50 minutes, stirring from time to time.
