  • About

These delicious cornbread fritters are sold from street stalls all over Venezuela and Colombia, grilled over hot coals and served on plantain leaves. The cheese may be either mixed into the dough or placed in the centre, so that it oozes out appetizingly as the moist arepa is wrapped in the leaf. In Venezuela arepas are stuffed with all kinds of fillings, such as beef, fish, beans or the very popular reina pepiada - a mixture of chicken and avocado.
