Plantain pie

This is one of my favourite side dishes. It is very sweet and full of flavour. Here it is baked as one large pie, but you can also use muffin tins to make individual portions. Although a sweet cake, torta de plátano is traditionally eaten with meat, but is also often served at parties, cut into squares. Some cooks add arequipe, the Colombian version of dulce de leche, which makes it irresistible.
