This is a classic American-style barbecue sauce. I use it at home in a couple of ways. Firstly, as a sauce on the side with any barbecued meat or poultry, and secondly, as a marinade. It is great with pork ribs: poach the ribs for one hour in salted water, marinate them in this sauce, then barbecue until caramelized and serve with some extra sauce on the side.
