This is a common hearty home-style soup that is enjoyed throughout Hong Kong. It is easy to put together and has a satisfying taste. Beef is inexpensive in Hong Kong, as it is not a favoured meat. Minced beef is used here as a filler to give substance to the soup, but even then, it is used in a small quantity. Once made, this soup can easily be reheated. It is perfect for a family meal.
