Dark raisins often replace the prunes in ‘far breton’, making ‘far aux raisins’. Soak them in the rum for 30 minutes, drain them well and use the fruit and the rum as in this recipe.

125 g prunes

Method

Soak the prunes in a bowl of hot water for 2 hours or until soft; then drain them. Butter a baking dish thoroughly and spread the fruit in the baking dish. Set the oven at moderate (175°C/350°F).
