‘Prunes de Tours’ are famous. The name is ambiguous, for it could refer to the city, or to the ‘tours’ (towers) in which fresh plums used to be dried for the winter.

Method

Soak the prunes in the wine for a few hours or overnight; then drain them, reserving the liquid. Pit the prunes and put them in a pot with the reserved liquid and a pinch of cinnamon. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes, or until tender.
