  • About

The slow-cooked flavor of this cabbage makes it an ideal side dish for a cold-weather supper. Turn it into an entrée by browning vegan sausage links in a skillet and adding them to the cabbage when ready to serve. Use gluten-free flour to make this dish gluten-free.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, minced
  • ½ teaspoon

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes to soften. Add the caraway seeds and flour and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the water, stirring until smooth.
  2. Transfer the onion mixture to the slow cooker and stir in the vinegar and sugar. Add the cabbage and season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
