Luther Miller is a great friend and a great chef. We worked together quite a few years ago, but this creation of his has stuck with me. It’s a great make-ahead hors d’oeuvre, perfect for elegant entertaining without last-minute fussing.

Just like a dessert torte, this savory version shows off thin layers in profile once sliced—of crêpe, cream cheese, and smoked salmon.
