Char siu, the hoisin-based sauce, is one of my favorite preparations, and it goes beautifully with slow-roasted pork in lettuce leaves, along with plenty of fresh, crunchy carrot and radish. Serve it with jasmine rice and a stir-fried or pan-steamed green vegetable such as snow or snap peas.

Ingredients

For the sauce

  • ½ cup/120 milliliters soy sauce

Method

Preheat your oven to 425°F/218°C.

Combine all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine.
