I don’t know what it is about orecchiette, but I get posh vibes from it. It feels like the fancier cousin of penne and fusilli. Maybe it’s just because I didn’t see it around when I was younger or maybe it’s because it tends to be sold in the higher-end supermarkets. That said, you can still pick up a pack pretty cheaply. I’ve combined it with the classic partnership of peas and pancetta.
