Strictly speaking, hummus means chickpea in Arabic. As this dip has no chickpeas in it, it’s not really a hummus at all, however, as it’s so similar that’s how I describe it when I’m offering it to guests at home. The peas make for a sweeter dip, but you get a nuttiness from the tahini – together they go great with all the usual hummus accompaniments.
