Asavarin is a doughnut-shaped cake that’s dipped in, or brushed with, a liquor-flavored sugar syrup shortly before it is served. The great thing about a savarin is that you can make it days ahead of time. It doesn’t matter if it gets stale, because it will be saturated with flavored syrup when you serve it. In addition to being easy to make and convenient, it’s also a particularly delicious cake that is always moist.

A savarin batter is almost identical to a crêpe batter except that
