Miss Margaret C. Cook says that pears or apples or prunes are perfectly delicious baked all night in the still warm oven of a stove that has been heated all day by a coal fire. In the morning the oven would be cold.
Method
Have a low earthenware pot or dish with a lid.
Pare the fruit carefully, and halve, and put into the pot.
Strew them with alittle sugar according to taste.
Add flavouring also according to taste and quantity.
