From Mrs. Anger’s receipt book. Miss Anstey can remember her grandmother making it and giving it to an invalid in small teaspoonfuls.

Ingredients

  • Wine 1 pint
  • isinglass 1 oz.
  • sugar candy

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients together in a saucepan.
  2. Place over the fire and dissolve slowly
  3. Put into moulds brushed over with almond oil (which may be bought from a chemist).
