Lady Robinson, who sent this recipe along with several exhibits for the first English Folk Cookery Exhibition held on January 16th, 1931, says: ‘It has been a great privilege to obtain this recipe. An old lady regales her friends who call upon her between Christmas and New Year’s Day with this cake and a glass of cherry brandy.’
