A very good cake mixture for all ordinary purposes may be made with the following:

Ingredients

  • Butter 8 oz.
  • castor sugar 8 oz.
  • eggs

Method

As above, but beat up the eggs with the milk which should be slightly warm. This mixture can be used to make Victoria sandwiches, jam rolls, jam fingers, and all sorts of shapes for fancy cakes; boats for children’s parties, foundations for birds’ nests, hearts, diamonds, etc., and any small cakes that can be dipped in different coloured sugar and water icings.
