Method

Rub the butter into the flour.
Add sugar, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and salt; mix well.
Beat up the eggs and milk.
Add them to the dry ingredients to make them into a thick cake batter.
Pour into a lined cake tin.
Bake in a moderate oven about 1 hour.
