- plain flour 12 oz.
- castor sugar
- Rub the butter into the flour.
- Add sugar, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and salt; mix well.
- Beat up the eggs and milk.
- Add them to the dry ingredients to make them into a thick cake batter.
- Pour into a lined cake tin.
- Bake in a moderate oven about 1 hour.
