Ingredients

  • Butter 4 oz.
  • plain flour 12 oz.
  • castor sugar

Method

  1. Rub the butter into the flour.
  2. Add sugar, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and salt; mix well.
  3. Beat up the eggs and milk.
  4. Add them to the dry ingredients to make them into a thick cake batter.
  5. Pour into a lined cake tin.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven about 1 hour.
