These have been tested by Mrs. Woods and found ‘very good indeed. ’She adds ‘I leave the paste all night and find it a better method.’

Ingredients

  • Treacle ¾ lb.
  • butter ½ lb.
  • flour

Method

  1. Mix the flour with the brown sugar and the ginger.
  2. Melt the treacle and butter together.
  3. Pour hot on to the flour mixture.
  4. Make into a paste; leave all night.
  5. When quite cold roll out thin as for biscuits with just as much flour as will prevent it sticking to the board.
  6. Cut into rounds and bake on greased
