Ingredients

  • Fine oatmeal 1 lb.
  • baking powder 2 dessertspoons
  • lard

Method

  1. Rub the lard into the oatmeal.
  2. Mix in the baking powder, spices and ginger.
  3. Take the lid off a tin of syrup or treacle and warm tin till the treacle runs.
  4. Mix it with the oatmeal into a stiff mixture.
  5. Put into a greased dripping tin and bake in the centre of a moderate oven.
