  • Plain flour ½ lb.
  • fine oatmeal ½ lb.
  • black treacle

Method

  1. Rub the butter and lard into the flour.
  2. Stir in oatmeal.
  3. Add the other dry ingredients.
  4. Then the syrup (slightly warmed).
  5. Slightly warm the milk and dissolve the soda in it.
  6. Stir it into the mixture.
