  • About

(As made by Sam Hook (Colebrooke, N. Devon), a baker living there about 1824). Mrs. I. M. Pope who sends this recipe says the buns were celebrated in the neighbourhood, and the ‘receipt’ has been copied from S. Hook’s own book now in the possession of a lady living in Copplestone, Devon. A revel was an anniversary feast to celebrate the dedication of a church; called a ‘wake,’ in the North of England.
