Method

  1. Heat the oven to No 2/300°F/150°C. Put the water, sugar (the amount needed depends on the sweetness of the pears), cloves, and cinnamon into a casserole or heatproof pot. Peel, core and halve the pears and put them at once into the syrup so they do not discolor. Cover tightly and bake in the heated oven until the pears are very tender; cooking time depends on their ripen
