Method

  1. Heat the oven to No 4/350°F/175°C. Cream the butter, stir in the flour, sugar, caraway seeds if using, and chopped almonds, and work the mixture with your hand to form a ball. Turn it out on a floured marble slab or board and knead it with the heel of your hand until very smooth and it peels in one piece from the board.
