These deep fried pickles make a great, if quite surprising appetizer, for any barbecue meal. Serve with icy cold beer in frosted mugs.
Combine the flour, cornmeal, and BBQ spice mix and place in a medium bowl. Make a slurry of mustard and beer in a separate medium bowl.
Dip pickle slices in mustard mixture and then in flour/cornmeal. Deep fry at 325° F in peanut or Canola oil until batter is browned. Pickles will float to top when done.
Serve as an appetizer with icy cold beer.
