Serve with shoestring potatoes or barbecued beans.
Mix cheese, mayonnaise and horseradish in small glass bowl until relatively smooth (there will still be lumps of cheese in mixture). Salt and pepper to taste.
Spread mixture thickly on each slice of bread. Top each of 4 bread slices with a quarter of the beef, then onion and apple. Top with remaining slice of bread, cheese/mayonnaise/horseradish side down.
