The best way to barbecue fruit is by making fruit kebabs. Most fruits work well, especially when slightly marinated in an alcoholic sugar syrup, so that the outside of the fruit pieces caramelizes when grilled.
Place bamboo skewers in a flat pan and weight down with a water glass, cover with hot water, and let soak for 20 minutes.
Wash then thoroughly dry the fruit. Thread alternative fruit pieces onto bamboo skewers.
