Method

Wash all the meat thoroughly. Place it in a large pot, two-thirds filled with water, and boil 20 to 30 minutes. As the meat cooks, cut turnips from the greens, peel, and dice. Pick the stems from the greens and cut into 2- to 3-inch pieces. Wash and drain the greens and turnips 2 or 3 times in cool water.
