  • 4–5 strips smoked bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 214¾-ounce cans


Fry the bacon in a skillet and drain the grease. Add the onion and the entire contents of the sardine cans to the skillet. Cover and simmer 10 to 20 minutes and serve over stiff grits or rice.
