Mandelbrot are Jewish biscotti. These long, flat cookies are sweet enough to enjoy for dessert, yet not so sweet that you wouldn’t have them for breakfast. They’re softer than biscotti, so you can munch them straight, but they’re also great dipped in coffee or tea. Here’s a recipe for traditional mandelbrot—flavored with almonds and almond extract. (Mandel is the Yiddish word for “almond”; brot for “bread. ”)
