My aunt Linda learned to make these cookies when she was pregnant with my cousin Andy. They’ve been a Millison family favorite ever since. Poppy seeds are much beloved by Eastern European Jews and their descendants; their pungent, earthy flavor makes a welcome addition not just to these cookies but to many Jewish desserts.
