On hearing that Iain MacDonald, the Lord of the Isles, was leading a rebellion against King James III, the man tasked with capturing the chieftain was the Earl of Atholl. He discovered their camp and dispatched his men to fill their well with whisky, oats and honey. When the Lord of the Isles and his troops drank from the well, they got so drunk that Atholl’s men easily captured them.
