When the mornings get darker and the cosy pyjamas are out of hibernation, this warming porridge will set you up for the day. I use coconut milk, but any plant-based milk will do. Adding chia and flaxseed will give your body a well-needed boost of fibre and antioxidants.

Ingredients

For the compote

  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Method

First, make your compote. Core, peel and chop the apple and pear.

In a pan, melt the butter then add the sugar and cinnamon. Add the chopped fruit, blackberries and cranberries and coat in the butter.

Pour over the water, bring to the boil then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the fruit is soft.
