Having a steak pie on New Year’s Day is as much a Scottish tradition as drinking whisky at the Hogmanay cèilidh the night before!
Cut the steak into chunks and brown in a large, oiled pan in batches and set aside.
Chop your onion, carrots, leeks and celery, then add the vegetables to the pan with a tablespoon of oil on a low heat and allow 7 to 10 minutes to soften. Add the chopped garlic and flour and stir through.
Then add the tomato purée, salt and pepper, the steak, Worcestershire Sauce and beef stock.
