This is a beloved Irish classic dessert. There’s something magical about its simplicity; it possesses a sense of comfort with every bite. Whether it’s thanks to the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness or the tender apples encased in a buttery, golden crust, this is the only apple tart recipe I use.

Method

Preheat the oven to 140°C fan (325°F) and grease a 23cm (9”) ovenproof plate.

Sift the flour into a large bowl and chill in the fridge, with the butter, for 30 minutes. Take out the flour and the butter from the fridge, then use your fingertips to rub the flour, butter and suga
