  • 3 lbs. pears, whatever type is readily available
  • 1–2 teaspoons powdered ginger (adjust to taste)


  1. Peel, remove cores, and grind or chop the pears very finely. A food processor may be used but leave a little texture. Measure 4 cups of fruit and put into a large pan.
  2. Add the powdered ginger, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix well and bring to a full rolling boil for 1 minu
