This chutney is quite hot.


  • 4 large tart apples
  • 2 large yellow or white onions
  • chopped hot pepper of choice, optional

  1. Chop the peeled and cored apples, peeled onions, optional hot pepper, and pitted dates in a blender, food processor, or by hand. If you prefer a smoother sauce, these ingredients may be ground together.
  2. Combine in a kettle with the vinegar, mustard, ginger, allspice, and cayenne pepper. Add the juice or water as needed to make a slightly runny mixture.
