  • canned pears, packed in heavy syrup
  • dried mint
  • green food coloring (optional)


  1. Start with any amount of canned pears, cut as you wish. Drain the syrup into a pan and add 1 teaspoon dried mint per can. Also a drop or two of green food coloring to add a nice color.
  2. Simmer the syrup, covered, for 10 minutes and let steep, covered, for several hours or overnight.
  3. Add the pears and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
