  • canned sour cherries, packed without sugar
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • red food coloring (optional)
  • 2

Method

  1. For each standard-sized can of sour cherries, drain very thoroughly in a strainer or colander and put into a glass bowl, jar, or other nonreactive container. Do not use aluminum. Discard the can juices.
  2. Cover with the cider vinegar. Some red food color mixed into the vinegar will improve the color of the finished cherries.
