This recipe is intended as a framework that you can use to develop your own salsa blend. If you prefer a smooth salsa, puree the mixture in a blender or food processor before cooking.


  • 14.5 oz can petite chopped tomatoes (discard any green or core pieces)
  • ¼ to ⅓ cup finely chopped green sweet pepper


  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Mix well and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. At this point, your salsa may be sealed in sterile jars or stored in the refrigerator for immediate use when chilled.
