We call blackberries the “best berry” in the Test Kitchen. And combining them with bourbon to create our version of the classic Kentucky Buck takes them to a whole new level. You can make this as an individual cocktail, but for a party, nothing beats a pitcher of this flavorful punch.

Ingredients

  • 3 fresh blackberries, plus 1 for garnish
  • 1 fl oz (30 ml)

Method

In a cocktail shaker, add the 3 blackberries and the simple syrup, then gently muddle together. Add the bourbon, lemon juice, and bitters, then fill with ice. Cover and shake vigorously until chilled.

Fill a highball glass with ice, then double strain the cocktail into the glass. Top with the ginger beer. Garnish with a blackberry and mint sprig. Serve immediately.
