A blanco-type tequila is the key to balancing the rich, creamy coconut flavor in this margarita. Unlike reposado and añejo tequilas, blanco isn’t aged, so there are no notes of oak from the barrels. Instead you get the essence of sweet, floral agave, an excellent pairing with the lime juice and orange liqueur.

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon

On a small plate, stir together the salt, sugar, and lime zest; spread into an even layer. Gently rub 1 of the lime wedges around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip the rim into the salt mixture. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Fill the rocks glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine the coconut cream, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup, then fill with ice. Cover
